The alphabet of authors
« on: November 05, 2014, 10:13:59 AM »
I've started doing the alphabet of authors. Tomorrow I do 'B'.

If you're wanting to join me on my journey I'd love the company. I'm considering making it the alphabet of male science fiction authors as I started with Isaac Asimov, would love to see someone do a different alphabet of authors.

There's a similar discussion happening on the Facebook page. If you're thinking of joining me but not certain what alphabet you want to do here's a list of thoughts you can either use or not as you choose.

Non-specific authors
Female science fiction
Speculative fiction
Fantasy
Fiction
Classic
Dystopian
Utopian
Post-apocalyptic
YA
Children
Aboriginal
Australian
Non-fiction either alphabetical or numeric using the Dewey system
Any of these can be either male or female, transgender or by country. They can be broken down further as you wish. Any of the YA or children can be broken down into any of the categories previously mentioned.

For anyone wanting to do science fiction authors I've found this grid with links. http://www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?author

Another thought for a list is the alphabet of editors.

Terry Carr
John Carnell
Gardner Dozois
Peter Haining
Christopher Sequeira
Jonathan Strahan
Donald Wollheim
Stefan R Dziemianowicz

Not sure if I could include Ellery Queen or Isaac Asimov in this list but they did publish magazines.

Very excited to get my linky thingy working this week. Anyone joining me should be able to put in their link in the correct place.

The resources in this thread are available for anyone to use, I'm just putting stuff here so I don't lose it again...

Not sure about this one, it has some typos and I've never seen this many in one article before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_science_fiction

Should read some of their works and write something potentially thoughtful. http://io9.com/great-unsung-science-fiction-authors-that-everybody-sho-1552276689
