Vlogging
« on: October 14, 2014, 08:24:16 PM »
Has anyone attempted a vlog?

I understand that book vlogging was talked about at the inaugural Random blog conference earlier this year.
I thought it was just a YA phenomenon, but it seems that more and more bloggers are getting into it.

I've recorded a video, but I hated it so much. I like the idea but I don't think I have the right voice, look, gender, etc to be a book vlogger.

This is a similar question to the one I've just answered about podcasting. Again, I've done the odd video but I'm really not sure about them. There are some book bloggers who vlog instead and that seems to be doing well for them.

Maybe just the wrong generation!
My two stepsons are all over youtube and several of their friends create and upload video/blogs.

I must admit, I just don't see the appeal.
I think I've only ever watched one vlog all the way through :-/

I think it would be great just talk about books, I was tempted to do it because I couldn't find a vlogger that reads books I like to read but then I found one

That's how many things have started. Couldn't find someone already doing what I wanted, I'll do it myself! Actually, that's not me. You should start a vlog anyway, one person generally isn't enough.

If it helps there's Words of a Reader on Youtube

You'll find more if you wander through her account or look on the right for recommendations.

I've done one but I rambled on so much because I was so nervous and self conscious that I haven't done it since. I may do one again but idk unlikely, no one needs to be subjected to that

I believe the trick to vlogging until you get used to it is to write a script.

Or just edit out all the other stuff. Climb the Stacks is a great channel and a good example of someone that rambles but cuts it down before uploading

You could do that. I know Words of a Reader edits her stuff, you can see the cuts.
